Welcome to Sonder. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Sonder platform, operated by Sonder Broadcasting PTY LTD (Australia).

By using Sonder, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

About Sonder

Sonder is a voice recording and storytelling platform designed to preserve heritage, strengthen family connections, and facilitate cultural storytelling through personal audio content.

We believe every voice matters, and we're committed to providing a safe, respectful space for authentic human storytelling.

Subscription Service

Sonder is a subscription-only service. We do not operate on advertising or data-selling business models.

Subscription plans provide access to all platform features

Billing is processed through Stripe with industry-standard security

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings

Legacy Plan subscribers help fund supported accounts for those in financial need

Your Account

To use Sonder, you must create an account and provide accurate information. You are responsible for:

Maintaining the security of your account credentials

All activity that occurs under your account

Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

Providing accurate and up-to-date information

Content Guidelines

Sonder is built on respect, authenticity, and human dignity. When creating content, you agree that:

You may not post content that is illegal, hateful, abusive, pornographic, exploitative, or harassing

You retain ownership of your stories but grant us a license to host and transmit them

Public stories must not contain personally identifiable information of yourself or others

All content must comply with our Community Guidelines

Privacy & Data Control

Your privacy is fundamental to how Sonder operates. We are committed to:

No advertising-based business model

No sale of user data to third parties

No third-party tracking or social scoring

Anonymity and privacy by design

Transparent data handling practices

All voice recordings are private by default. You control who sees your content: keep it private, share with specific contacts, or publish anonymously to the public stream.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data and content. You may, at any time:

Download all of your data and recordings

Delete any individual recording or story

Delete your account entirely

Update contact and privacy preferences

Adjust billing and subscription settings

We do not use deceptive design. Managing your data and exiting Sonder is straightforward and clearly presented in your account settings.

Sharing & Publication

All recordings are private by default. When you choose to share content:

Published stories include transcripts to support accessibility

Your identity is never revealed — all public stories remain anonymous

You may not share other users' content outside the platform without permission

You may unpublish any story at any time while your account is active

The Sonder Archive

When you publish a story to the Stream, you are choosing to add it to the Sonder archive — a living record of human voices and experiences. Private recordings remain entirely yours: you may delete them at any time and they will not be retained. Published stories, however, may remain part of the archive after your account is closed or after your death, as they have been voluntarily offered to the Sonder community as a lasting record.

You will be clearly informed of this at the point of publishing. If you wish to remove a published story from the archive, you may do so from your Library at any time while your account is active. Sonder may also remove published content for legal, safety, moderation, or serious harm reasons.

Platform Availability

While we strive for continuous availability, Sonder may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues. We are not liable for temporary interruptions in service.

Account Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time:

You may delete your account through your settings at any time

We may suspend accounts that violate these terms

Upon deletion, your private recordings, journal entries, drafts, and profile information are permanently removed

Stories you have published to the Stream are part of the Sonder archive and may remain available after your account closes, without your profile attached

You may unpublish specific stories from your Library before your account closes if you wish to remove them from the archive

Limitation of Liability

Sonder is provided "as is" without warranties. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as Sonder evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the platform, and continued use constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
