Community Guidelines

Last updated: October 14, 2025

Our Philosophy

"Honest, not harmful. Truthful, not toxic."

Sonder exists to protect emotional safety while honoring the full spectrum of human experience. We welcome rawness, complexity, and truth — without allowing harm or hate.

1. Core Community Standards

To participate in Sonder, all users must adhere to the following:

Do not post content that is illegal, hateful, abusive, pornographic, exploitative, or harassing
Do not include personally identifying information - keep yourself safe
Do not include personally identifiable information about others without explicit consent
Respect the privacy and anonymity of all users
Do not attempt to identify or contact other users based on their stories
Use reporting tools — do not engage with harmful content directly

2. Safety & Protection

What We Actively Prevent

Hate speech or discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, identity, religion, or ability
Threats, harassment, or intimidation
Promotion or glorification of self-harm or violence
Any exploitation or abuse of minors (Sonder is an 18+ platform)
Doxxing or sharing of private information

Sensitive Topics

We welcome difficult stories — including trauma, grief, and mental health struggles — but with care:

Users may add their own content warnings to protect others
Our system may apply additional warnings when needed
Content flagged as high-risk will be reviewed by a human moderator

3. Moderation & Enforcement

Our Approach

Moderation is human-led, with empathy and discretion
We aim for restorative responses where possible — not punitive overreach
Flagged content is reviewed promptly
There is a clear, fair escalation and appeals process

Possible Consequences

First violations: Warning and potential content removal
Repeated violations: Temporary posting restrictions
Severe violations: Account suspension or ban
Illegal content: Immediate removal and potential law enforcement involvement

4. Community Support

We care for the storyteller and the listener.

Direct support available at info@sonderbroadcasting.com for any concerns
Content reporting tools to flag inappropriate stories
Clear community guidelines to support safe storytelling
Human moderation review for flagged content

5. Privacy & Anonymity

Your identity is always protected.

All public stories are anonymous — no usernames, no profile photos
Users cannot choose to reveal their identity on public content
Location data is generalized to preserve safety
We collect only the data necessary to provide our service

Privacy Shield

The Privacy Shield is our commitment to protect your identity and personal information:

Complete anonymity on all published content — your stories are never linked to your account name or profile
No tracking, no advertising, no data selling
Your audio recordings, transcripts, and personal reflections remain private unless you explicitly choose to share
Sonder Broadcasting does not have access to your private stories — only content you choose to publish to the Stream is visible to our moderation team
Industry-standard encryption protects your data in transit and at rest
You control who can see your content through granular privacy settings

Our Commitment

These guidelines will grow as our community does. But our core promise stays the same:

To protect a space where real human stories can be told — with safety, dignity, and respect.
