At Sonder Broadcasting PTY LTD, we are committed to protecting your privacy, your data, and your right to control your voice.

1. Our Privacy Principles

Sonder operates on the following foundational principles:

No advertising-based business model
No sale of user data
No third-party tracking
No algorithmic ranking or social scoring
Anonymity and privacy by design

We do not profit from your attention, your behaviour, or your content. You are not the product.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of personal information:

a. User-Provided InformationName, email address, and account credentials (for registered users)
Voice recordings and transcriptions ("Sonders")
Emotional tags, metadata, album titles, and notes
Contact entries and relationship context (if added)
b. Automatically Collected InformationDevice type, browser version, and operating system
Interaction data (e.g., page visits, errors encountered)
IP address (used for security and fraud detection)
Time and date of access

We do not use third-party tracking cookies. We use anonymized analytics to monitor platform performance and improve user experience.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the Sonder platform
Transcribe and tag audio recordings using OpenAI's Whisper API
Allow sharing of Sonders with approved contacts or anonymously
Enable features such as albums, time capsules, and the family tree
Process billing through Stripe
Improve platform security, reliability, and accessibility

We do not share your content with third parties without your explicit consent.

4. Transcripts & Accessibility

Note: Automatic transcription is only available for Legacy Subscribers.

For Legacy Subscribers, all voice recordings are automatically transcribed. These transcripts:

Are stored securely and privately by default
Are published alongside a Sonder if you choose to publish it
Are used to support accessibility for hearing-impaired users
Are not translated or used for AI model training without consent

5. Data Storage & Security

Your content is encrypted and stored securely using industry-standard protocols. Voice data is only sent to third parties in the following limited cases, strictly for the purpose of providing core platform functionality:

OpenAI Whisper: Used only for transcription (audio is not retained)
Stripe: Used for payment processing
Cloud Hosting Providers: Secure storage of encrypted data

Biometric authentication, if enabled on your device, remains entirely local — we do not store or transmit biometric data.

6. Sharing & Publication

All Sonders are private by default. You control who sees your content:

Keep it private
Share with specific contacts
Publish anonymously to the public stream

Published Sonders include their transcript to support accessibility.

Your identity is never revealed - all public stories remain anonymous

You may not share other users' Sonders outside of the platform without explicit permission

7. Your Rights & Choices

You may, at any time:

Download all of your data and recordings
Delete any individual Sonder
Delete your account entirely
Update contact and privacy preferences
Opt out of location features and discovery
Adjust billing and subscription settings

We do not use deceptive design. Exiting Sonder or managing your data is straightforward and clearly presented in your account settings.

8. Sponsored Accounts & Community Access

Users on the Legacy Plan help fund supported Sonder accounts for those in financial need. These sponsored users receive full access anonymously, with no contact or identifying information shared between parties.

You won't know who they are — just that someone, somewhere, gets to be heard because of you.
